Meet Dr. Friedman

Dr. Aliza Friedman (she/her) is a Clinical Psychologist licensed to practice in Ontario, Canada. She is passionate about working with people with eating disorders and disordered eating on improving their relationship with food and their body. In addition to working with clients in eating disorder recovery, Dr. Friedman works with adults with anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder, difficulty managing emotions, and coping with life transitions or stressors. She also has extensive experience working with individuals with disordered eating or negative body image following bariatric (weight loss) surgery. 

 

Dr. Friedman also has a special interest in working with athletes with eating disorders/disordered eating or other related mental health concerns. Dr. Friedman provides specialized mental health services to Canada’s national team athletes as part of the Game Plan Mental Health Network.

Dr. Friedman completed her M.A. and PhD in Clinical Psychology at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) where her research program focused on the impact of weight-based stigma on negative body image and disordered eating. She completed her doctoral residency and much of her pre-doctoral training at St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton.
